International

Sweet spot goes international

Sweet spot

Welcome back to the Sweet spot!!

Let’s have another recipe Wednesdays.

Halfway through another week, so you know what it's time for.

As always, it’s been a busy couple of weeks for us.

Our brand-new stall has been a godsend, and we hope to become a mainstay within the Marina market.

We have been here for over a year and plan on sticking around until the end.

It's been a journey and a half for us, the highs and the lows.

This week, we are going a bit international with our choice.

What country you ask?

I worked with many nationalities in my years in the kitchen.

Many different cultures and different foods that come from all across the world.

Seeing the little desserts and food that people bring to share is fantastic.

"Food, in the end, in our own tradition, is something holy. It's not about nutrients and calories. It's about sharing. It's about honesty. It's about identity." - Louise Fresco

It taught me that life is more about our connections with the people in our lives.

The more we share food, the better the connections we develop.

So the country in question is Argentina

The dessert is known as a Chocotorta.

Chocotorta

Ingredients:

  • 750g chocolate bourbons

  • 450g cream cheese

  • 450g dulce de leche(argentinian caramel)

  • 200ml cooled coffee

  • cocoa powder for dusting

  • 1 milk chocolate chocolate bar

Method:

  1. Put the dulce de leche and cream cheese together into a bowl, cream together with an electric mixer.

  2. Place the cooled coffee into a bowl.

  3. Get a Pyrex dish approx 20 × 20 cm.

  4. Dip the biscuits in the coffee and place in the bottom of the dish as a single layer.

  5. Pour the cream cheese mixture just over the top and repeat adding biscuits.

  6. Finish with a layer of cream cheese mixture.

  7. Top with the cocoa powder and chill overnight.

  8. When you are about to serve, get the chocolate and use a peeler to shave the chocolate like peeling a potato.

  9. Place on top of the piece of Chocotorta.

It should look something like the above.

This is a great chilled dessert, perfect for the summer months. Hopefully, the sun will stay around for a little bit, and we can enjoy this amazing international dessert.

Anyway, have a great day.

Stay Sweet
